Dr. GK Pradhan, Dean (Engineering, AKSU), along with his team, made the participation in Diamond Jubilee Ceremony of NMDC, organized in Khajuraho last week. During the seminar, dignitaries present at the venue, talked extensively about the achievements, and the problems being faced by the NMDC in recent years. Seminar witnessed the participation of more than 150 representatives, came from various reputed organizations of India. Dr. Mahendra Tiwari (HOD, Environmental Science), under the guidance of Dr. GK Pradhan, presented his research paper on “The efforts of AKS University to protect the environmental cover of Panna Mines”, which was appreciated by the intellectual audience with big round of applause.

 During the inaugural ceremony, Vineet Austin, Director, Department of Mines (MP, Govt.), Project Manager; Rajiv Sharma, NMDC (Head); CE Kindo, along with other dignitaries were present. Other faculty members named Maneesh Agrawal, Dr. Sandeep Prasad, Atuldeep Soni, and a large number of mining students, also represented the AKS University in this grand function of NMDC.

A visit for the students of B.Sc. Agriculture was arranged on Saturday where they, along with their faculty members (Shampy Jain, Dr. Neeraj Verma), visited a number of commercial Banks situated in Satna. Students and faculty members, during the visit, interacted with Bank officers and learnt about the various schemes (such as agriculture loan, kisan credit card and others) being run by the government, for the benefit of farmers. Lokendra Pandey, (one of the Bank personnels) present on the occasion, apprised the delegation about the loan schemes, interest rates and other functioning of private banks. At the end of the visit, students, through their pertinent questions, received some valuable information from Bank officers.

Mining Department of AKS University on Monday organized “One day Workshop” on the topic “Resource and Reserve Estimation and Scheduling Using Jeowaya”, which was attended by the students of B.Tech and M.Tech Mining. Keynote Speakers, Ankit Shukla (BDM, EDS) and Md Ajmat Basha (Technical Specialist), speaking on the occasion, conveyed the valuable information to students on ‘ways to increase the productivity of the mines’, its quality, and the aspects of mining security.  Besides it, the topic “application of computer in mining sector” was also discussed in detail.

 During the workshop, Chairman (AKSU), Er. Anant Soni; Vice Chancellor, PK Banik; and Engineering Dean, GK Pradhan, were present  along with the representatives of top cement companies of the  region: Prism, Birla,Maihar cement,KJS cement and JP cement- Babupur.

 The workshop concluded with the distribution of “Workshop Participation Certificates” given to students by the EDS and AKS University. Students and faculty members, who were present during the workshop, termed it both ‘enlightening’ and ‘interesting’ one.

 KHO-KHO (Girls) team of AKS University will participate in National KHO-KHO games scheduled to be held in Utkal University, Bhubaneswar from 15^th of November onwards. Informing about it, Suneel Pandey (Sport Officer) told that the team, which is enjoying the high morale, will participate in national games, going to take place between 15^th to 19^th of November, “Team members, under the guidance of Prachi Singh Baghel (Team Manager), will leave for Bhubaneswar within a day or two”, he said. Names of the team members are: Deekha Maravee(Captain), Monu Singh, Shivani Shrivastava, Richa Raj,Chandanee Pal,Bharti Badali, Sakshi,Kavita Kumari, Shweta Singh, Poonam Patel, Sejal and Sukanya Soni. Management (AKSU) has wished Team Members “all the best” for having good performance in national games.

A “Guest Lecture” was organized in Cement Technology Department of AKS University on Saturday which was attended by the students (B.Tech and Diploma) and faculty members of Cement Technology. Vivek Singh, the Keynote Speaker (Cluster Head, Hydelberg Cement) shared some important tips to students on various aspects of Personality Development. Vivek Singh also shared his job experiences of cement plant with students during his lecture. He presented certain examples for students so that they could maintain their mental equilibrium while dealing with success and failure. He said, if you have strong will power then no power in world can prevent you from achieving success. He said that the students need to develop the “Can do” attitude within them, and then the things will automatically begin to fall in right places.

 In the last session, top brasses of the University were imparted training through “Mock Plant Head Meeting” where students exhibited certain role plays. During the Lecture, Professor: GC Mishra, Professor KN Bhattacharya, Rama Shukla, KP Tiwari, Professor: VK Singh, Professor: SK Jha, Rahul Umar,Ravi Pandey Piyush Gupa and  Ayush Gupta were present.
