Fifth semester students of B.Tech Mining (AKSU) recently visited Malajkhand Copper Mines, which is situated there in Balaghat district. Approximately 60 students, accompanied by the faculty members named Shantanu Kumar, Dinesh Shankar and Aalok Varnwal, visited the mines and learnt the various technicalities of exploiting copper through open pit mining. Notably, the Malajkhand Copper Project had been inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in year 1980. At present, besides the open pit mine, concentrator plant is also operationalized here, which is being used by the Hindustan Copper Limited to exploit copper through open pit mining. Engineering Dean, GK Pradhan has advised the students to learn and observe the functioning of mines, with deep devotion.
