A Programme on “Women Empowerment and Security” in AKS University

A Workshop on “Women Empowerment and Security” was organized at the auditorium of AKS University, where the matters related to domestic violence, stringent laws made to protect women, and the measures taken by the government, were discussed at length. On this occasion Kishor Dwivedi (District Officer, Women Empowerment) gave the detail information on the programmes started by government for the welfare of women and their security. Informing about the Domestic Violence Protection Act, Rajendra Bangre, Project Officer (Women Development) said that the women can safeguard their self respect by exercising these laws. He vehemently stated that the laws made for women are meant to patch up the relations with their family members rather than breaking the relations, furthermore, he informed the students about the Nari-niketan and its functioning. Vinay Kaithvas, District Commandant (Home guard) apprised the students about the acts related to sexual exploitation faced by children. Sharing the Dias, Vidya Pandey, President, Vasundhara Mahila Mandal extensively shared her views about the sextual discrimination prevalent in society. Speaking on the occasion, Amar Singh Chauhan, District Child Protection Officer informed the students about various provisions of Kishor- Nyay Act. On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor (AKSU)-PK Banik, Pro VC-Dr. Harshvardhan, OSD-RN Tripathi, Administrator-RK Shrivastava, and the students of MSW Department were present. Programme was anchored and directed by Manju Chatarjee.
