Tushar Gandhi, the great grandson of Mahatma Gandhi was in AKS University last week to participate in a symposium organized on 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.  Addressing the audience on the occasion, he said: “We must change ourselves prior to bringing changes in society.”  The AKS staff welcomed each and every statement of the speech with “big round of applause” as it was fully drenched with the “Gandhian philosophy”, a philosophy which may bring “drastic changes” in one’s personality, if implemented positively.  Speaking on Mahatma Gandhi, he said, “The messages of Bapu are quite relevant and motivate us to become a good human being.” Laying emphasis on the need of freedom, he said the people of the country must enjoy the complete freedom only then the innovative ideas will generate, and these ideas will be shaping the destiny of the country.  He said: “We need to have the faith on our inner strength to achieve the desirable goal of the life.”  Throwing lights on the education system of India he said, “Our education system is deprived of the freedom, and its various entities like teachers, students and institutions, may be termed “slaves” of it. He said: “Now a days, the objective of education is to get the good job and the students are satisfied to become a “commodity” only. He appreciated the “Swacchata Abhiyan” of the government but lamented for “non-cooperation” of the people in successful execution of this campaign. At the end of the programme, BP Soni, the Chancellor, expressed his gratitude towards Tushar Gandhi for making his esteemed presence in AKS University, while “vote of thanks” was proposed by Professor RN Tripathi.
