AKS University, following the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution”, organized a programme at its auditorium to mark the occasion of World Environment Day. On this day, events like essay writing, drawing and extempore were organized, which witnessed the huge participation of students from various faculties. The function was directed by Professor R N Tripathi, who shared some relevant and pertinent information with the audience.

 Dr. Harshvardhan, during his address, appreciated the works of Municipal Commissioner of Satna. Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner- Paveen Singh Adhayat said that the cleanliness is the collective moral responsibility of the people, and pollution free environment is possible if every citizen is prepared to shoulder on the responsibility of his or her part. He said that the people should be aware of negative aspect of pollution so that environment could be saved, and satna city may realize its dream of becoming smart city. “People living in society will have to change their mentality, and will have to be more sensitive towards the environment protection” he further said.

 Sharing the dais VC-Paritosh K Banik said, aim of celebrating environment day was to create awareness among the people towards environment protection so that people may become self disciplined and more sensitive towards the environment protection.

 Dragging the attention of commissioner towards the encroachment problem, Director, Amit Soni said that the ponds situated in Satna need to be free from encroachment, and they are required to be covered with boundary walls, so that Satna city could be saved from water depletion problem. The suggestion given by Amit Soni was attentively listened by Commissioner, with positive response. Suggesting on the occasion, Professor GC Mishra said that the use of plastic and polythene as a fuel in cement industries may reduce the pollution caused by plastic.

At the end of programme, Dr. Mahendra Tiwari, Head- Environment Department (AKSU) proposed the “vote of thanks”.
